Local Action

Parents Across RI encourages you to be involved in your local School District.  It is the only way you can know what is happening in your children’s schools and a great way to learn and let your voice be heard.

Some ideas for local involvement:

  • Get to know who the members of your Local School Committee are and ask them where they stand on issues you care about.  Parents Across RI completed a brief survey in September 2015 regarding requiring PARCC testing. You can read the results here.
  • Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about issues that matter to you regarding education.
  • Request a meeting with your district superintendent.
  • Host an information session at your local library to educate other parents on what you know.
