Parents Across RI encourages you to be involved in your local School District. It is the only way you can know what is happening in your children’s schools and a great way to learn and let your voice be heard.
Some ideas for local involvement:
- Get to know who the members of your Local School Committee are and ask them where they stand on issues you care about. Parents Across RI completed a brief survey in September 2015 regarding requiring PARCC testing. You can read the results here.
- Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about issues that matter to you regarding education.
- Request a meeting with your district superintendent.
- Host an information session at your local library to educate other parents on what you know.
