Rhode Island’s School Rating System

The current system for rating schools in Rhode Island is based, almost entirely, on how well students do on PARCC Exams.

You can view the new 2015-2016 School Rating System Adopted by RIDE . The rating system proposed by RIDE is outlined on Slide 7.  School rating depends, almost exclusively, on performance and participation on the state assessments in Math and ELA. These two tests alone determine our schools’ rating status.  This is bad policy from RIDE.

Our administrators deserve more, our teachers deserve more, and most importantly, our students deserve more than to have our schools be rated by two tests.
